Walk Abouts
London has a wealth of beautiful old homes. Nestled among mature trees, the homes of Woodfield are truly one of a kind.
Walk north on Colborne down to Dufferin. Head East to William St. Turn left, (north) and then turn left onto Princess Ave heading West. This block of Princess between William and Prospect is the true heart of Woodfield and where our summer festival takes place. It has a fine collection of homes including some down Prospect that are made of wood. These beauties survived a great fire in London when almost all of the wooden structures were lost.If you continue down Princess and cross Colborne, turn north up to Central Ave and go West again. Follow Central to the top of Victoria Park. This was an Army Base before it was converted into a city park. Surrounding the park are many lovely homes as well. To return back, head south down through the park back to Dufferin and head east back to Colborne.

A wrought iron bowstring arch through truss bridge, crossing Thames River. It was built in 1875 and still functioning. At 216 ft, it is the longest working span of that kind in North America. Recently rebuilt and reinstalled. Cross the river in style. Walk west down Central Ave all the way to the dead end and follow the steps down to the North end of Harris Park. Ounce you cross, on the far side of the river you can go along the high road past Labatt Park , one of Canada's oldest baseball diamonds, to the next bridge and walk back along Dundas St. This is where the Jette d'Eau( the large fountain) is located, at the Forks of the Thames. The courthouse and old Jail is on this side of the river as well as The Art gallery.

Take a self guided tour and explore the life of the Harris family. They offer teas and socials on the lawn during strawberry season. I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would, as well as my grand daughters. They paid such attention to the details of a past life. A lovely museum. The gardens are well maintained in the summer, the peonies are a sight to see.
