After that we will move to Shinjuku via the JR Yamanote Line (12 minute train ride) and show you the gritty side of Tokyo, showing you the tiniest of alleys and the main night-life spot. The tour/photoshoot is going to be around 2-3 hours. I will be providing you with 25-40 high resolution photos, post processed and ready to share to your friends and family. LET'S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is overpriced and crowded with people! This tour focuses on Ueno, which is not as crowded as Shibuya, Shinjuku and is less touristy. It is also famous with Japanese foodies for a good quality at reasonable prices. I'm going to take you to popular bars and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order signature dishes, and we will discuss the food and drink (and you can pepper me with questions). We will visit 4 restaurants/taverns in total, where you will sample sashimi, grilled fish and skewered meat, etc. You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic drinks (5 or more different type of drinks) and you'll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen shop that is popular with locals. At the end of the tour, I will explain which train station you need to go, depending on where you go. You are going to have a full-size meal on the day in several different restaurants included ramen, so again pls come hungry!

We will explore the residual area of Asakusa, Tokyo's old town while stopping by my favorite places while visiting some of the must-visit landmarks in Tokyo (e.g. Sensoji temple with Tokyo Skytree view). We will eat at 5-6 local food restaurants and shops that are popular among the locals. Most of them have a very long history and small family-owned businesses. Throughout the tour, you will taste a wide variety of Japanese food and experience our unique culture. Other things to note This tour is run by either me or my staff. Food is included in the price. Let me know if you have any food restrictions or allergies. Unfortunately, I cannot accommodate vegetarian food restrictions.

Firstly, we’ll visit the 300 year old Nezu shrine, which is my favorite shrine in Tokyo. I'll explain the history of the shrine and tell you some various beliefs and traditions of ancient Japanese people. When you pass through the “100 red gate tunnel”, you’ll feel as if you are back to the Edo era (17th to 19th century). Secondly, we’ll walk around Yanaka area which is a part of Ueno. The area we’ll walk around is a pretty downtown and a quiet residential area. There are many temples and small traditional shops. I’m sharing some interesting stories behind the places that we’ll visit. You may buy a little souvenirs and eat snacks if you like. The tour ends at a local popular shopping street, Yanaka Ginza. Since I live near here, I can share some of my favorite shops. Ueno was one of the battlegrounds of Meiji Restoration in 1868. I’ll tell about how Japan has changed from the era of the samurai to modernized Japan, sharing my university knowledge and my family story. First, we’ll visit Kichijyoji temple, which was an important center of learning in Edo (the old name for Tokyo) during the 17th century. I’ll explain the temple’s history and architecture and tell you some fascinating stories about it. Secondly,we’ll visit Fuji-jinjya shrine, which was enshrined on the top of a man-made hill which represents the mt.Fuji in the Edo period. Many people visited this artificial hill as if they felt like claiming up the real mt.Fuji, which has been cherished as a sacred mountain. Let’s claiming up this small mt.Fuji! Then we’d be able to feel what common people believed back then. Finally, we’ll walk to Rikugien – a beautiful 300-year-old garden which is my favorite place in Tokyo. I’ll explain the garden’s secrets and introduce you to ancient Japanese poetry (“waka"), which played an important part in the lives of samurai feudal lords and the nobility. Welcome to Tokyo, Japan! Let’s dive into and discover Tokyo's kaleidoscope of sights and sounds. Explore as many as 15 attractions in the city on this full day tour. We take you to the must-see sights and also show you the hidden gems of each location. Let’s stroll the city on foot and by metro like a local for the day. Transportation and the street in the area are very complicated, even for the Japanese. However, all our guides were born and raised in Japan, have lived for a long time close to the area, and are well-trained expert locals. So, we can take you to so many places, at the best time, within a limited timeframe. We recommend you join our tour on your first day in Tokyo. Because, you can learn not only about sights, but also about Japanese history, culture, society, ways of thinking, values and even about local etiquette, how to take public transportations, our everyday life. You will make a green tea (Matcha) in an ancient style Japanese tea ceremony room wearing Kimono. First, you will chose your kimono. I will help to make sure that you are dressed correctly also your hair match the traditional styles. You will a selection of kimono in sizes appropriate for women, men, boys, and girls . Second, I will give you an introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony and associated rituals. Traditional Japanese tea ceremony will be held and you will make a green tea (Matcha), drink it, then eat Japanese sweets (Wagashi) which is suitable for the green tea. Lastly, you are allowed to take pictures in the tea ceremony room after the ceremony and in front of our unique backdrops! Other things to note You have an option to do the tea ceremony by sitting on a chair. Please let me know in advance!

皆様にサムライの精神を味わって頂けるよう、居合道場で安全第一に次の内容の体験をご用意しております。 １．道着の着用 　　はじめに道着（稽古着）に着替えます。 ２．居合の所作 　　刀を使い、居合を実践する上での基本の作法を体験します。 ３．刀の扱い、振り方の稽古 　　木剣を使い、基本的な刀の扱い方や振り方を稽古します。 ４．試し斬り体験 　　日本刀（真剣）を使い、実際に巻き藁を斬る体験をします。サムライの精神に則り、お一人につき巻き藁１本の真剣勝負となります。 ５．居合演武の観賞 　　居合の形・剣術の形・試し斬りの演武をご覧頂きます。 ６．日本刀・甲冑等の鑑賞 　　道場内に展示している時代物の刀や甲冑等に直に触れながら解説を致します。 日本のサムライが戦国時代にどのような心持でいたのかを感じ、普段とは違った角度から自己の内面に触れ、新たな自分の発見につながれば幸いです。 サムライ体験終了時に「修了証」を授与しますので、日本での思い出としてお持ち帰りください。 その他の留意事項 道具は貸し出し用の道着と居合刀をご用意していますので特別なご準備は不要です。また、館内の展示物や体験風景はご自由に写真を撮って頂けます。体験終了後に「修了証」を授与します。

(Title "My Japanese Perspective") I’m a Japanese stand-up comedian and I’ll introduce you to Japanese history, religion, culture, sex, and the recommended sightseeing spots in a funny way. After this comedy show, you’ll be able to understand "why Japanese people are like this." At the end of the show, you can mingle with the other guests and we'll all hang out together while I tell you more about Japan.

You will make your own omakase sushi with really good quality of the fish. (I highly recommend this experience to learn more about sushi before going to a fancy sushi restaurant) This tour consists of two part. First, we will walk around Tsukiji fish market where I will explain about fish and Japanese dishes. Second part is, you will experience sushi making, you can make your own sushi! I make some Omakase sushi for you as well. *The duration of this tour is 3-3.5hours.
